These shades are made from natural Bamboo reeds and are considered a 'green' or 'sustainable' product, as Bamboo can be harvested without damaging the actual plant itself. Bamboo also grows faster than trees and the reeds can be harvested several times from one plant (unlike trees which once harvested has to be replanted and start as just a sapling). All of these factors make bamboo a great choice for the ecologically minded consumer.
Natural imperfections and variations to every shade adds character, but please be sure to order all the windows in the same room together, otherwise the bamboo may vary in color (due to the nature of the material).
Just remember for those extremely wide windows the matchstick style is not recommended. The wider the window the more the shade has a natural tendency to sag. It’s a natural imperfection to these small reeds that make up the matchstick style.
As these treatments are very sheer, we recommend ordering your woven shades with an optional liner if you require more sun protection or privacy (there are both light filtering and room darkening liners from which to choose from).
